It enables a converged network build-out by providing a DWDM platform that supports carrier-class TDM and Packet Switching and Photonic Switching technologies. As a result, you can reduce the costs of deploying multiple platforms and interconnection hardware for different service types in metro edge networks. Components of the optical solution include:

• Metro Edge gives service providers the ability to offer both traditional revenue services such as ATM, Frame Relay, Voice, leased line, wireless and DSL as well as new services such as content networking, Wide-area Ethernet and wireless data
• Long-Haul addresses increased channel counts, span reach, and the associated flexible optical add-drop multiplexor (OADM) capabilities.
